Why Does A Pro Gamer Setup And Settings Matter?

To put it quite simply, the pro gamers are the best in the world at the games they play, and it’s not all due to the countless hours of practice they put in or natural talent. Take your favorite pro and give them a 12 year old laptop, a standard mouse with no side buttons, no mousepad, and a flimsy keyboard, and they’ll struggle to get anything done. While the game sense may be there, and the talent, without the proper settings and gear, it can not be put to full use.

Pros know the value of making sure every element of their game is optimized. From the mouse they use, to the DPI on that mouse, their keybinds, monitor settings, they have tested every single variable to get the most performance out of their setup. After all, in the fast paced action of esports games, milliseconds can mean the difference between the million dollar top prize, and a round 1 exit. That being said, finding the right mouse for your grip, the right monitor settings, optimized keybinds, and everything else you need to compete at a high level is a tough task. We aim to make that task easier on aspiring competitive players.

What Matters More, The Gear or The Settings?

In our opinion, the gear matters more, but not by as much as you may think. You need to have good gear in terms of your mouse, keyboard, mousepad, headset, monitor, and pc in order to be truly competitive in the esports world. However, good settings and keybinds are extremely important as well. Both of these factors combined are what truly elevates your gaming to the next level.

The reason that we say that gear matters more, is simply because it is less subjective. There is still preference to mouse design, feel, grip, texture, etc of course. But a mouse with a good sensor is a mouse with a good sensor, either way it’s going to help you perform better than a $5 mouse. A 144hz monitor, even the worst one there is, is going to play smoother than a 60hz.

Don't Pro Gamers Use Sponsored Gear?

Pro gamers do use sponsored gear quite often, there’s no denying that. However, most pros will use this gear during streams primarily, and are free to use whatever gear they want in a tournament environment. After all, sponsors want their players to win for exposure! We primarily analyze the gear and settings that pro players use in a competitive environment to ensure we are providing you with the most accurate pro gear and settings.

Are These Pro Settings Accurate?

99% of the time, yes, our settings, keybinds, and gear are accurate. However, it can be hard to keep up with so many elements for so many pros! Pro gamers are switching gear, testing new settings, and trying out new keybinds all the time. While we actively stay on top of the changes as much as is physically possible, every once in a while we might miss the latest setting change your favorite pro has made. Above all else, keep in mind, that while these are the settings and gear that the pros use, you should always do your own research before switching your setup. Changing your keybinds or buying a new mouse isn’t going to magically make you 500 times better at your favorite game. But upgrading equipment and using more effective settings with more efficient keybinds will help in the long run, just be sure to pick a setup that works for you and stick with it for a while!
