When it comes to gaming, you’re going to want the best setup, plain and simple. That setup involves quite a few different variables, though, and each are important to have tuned properly to ensure maximum performance. Typically, the more expensive the cost of the machine, the better it likely is. Even then, you can have the totally wrong settings and get awful performance. I’ve seen it time and time again. What does it matter if you have a RTX 2080 TI if you have the wrong video drivers?

Apex legends is no different. You’re going to want to have a solid PC setup, with finely tuned settings that are going to create a proper gaming experience. There’s multiple things to consider. Do you want to go for pure performance? Do you want to go for the best looking graphic settings? Or, do you want a mixture of both?

From a competitive standpoint, almost all of the pros are going to tell you’re that they’re dropping their Apex Legends settings to low. This is mostly for the additional FPS you’re going to gain by doing so. I mean, at the end of the day, if you’re playing competitively and can see your targets, does additional texture really matter? Not really. That said, if you’re looking to gain a competitive advantage, try lowering all of your settings for that juicy, juicy additional FPS. These are going to be the best settings for Apex Legends in terms of performance.

From a content creation standpoint, the majority of your viewers are going to want to see some nice, clean video. If your computer can handle it, you’re definitely going to want to increase your settings so that you can provide that level of quality. This is why you’re going to see the likes of Shroud, Ninja, TimTheTatMan running higher settings, and rightfully so. No one wants to watch an ugly stream!

These are the bare minimum PC requires for Apex Legends from the official site. While you’re going to be able to run the game, you’re not really going to be able to play the game. If you’re trying to get fairly decent performance on a budget, we highly recommend making sure you are running at least an i5, 8GB of RAM, and a 960. These aren’t going to give you incredible performance either, but at least you won’t be playing a slideshow like you would be with the below settings. You will definitely want to do some fine-tuning to find the best settings for Apex Legends if you’re running the below rig.

While the minimum required specs to play Apex Legends are going to allow you to play it, you’re not going to really be able to compete the way you normally would want to. As mentioned previously, we recommend at least an i5, 8GB of RAM, and a 960. Below, is the official requirements from EA’s site to run Apex Legends at 60 FPS. You’ll notice they are very similar to our suggestions. They have upgraded the GPU to the 970.

These settings are going to comfortably allow you to play Apex Legends at 60 FPS, and to the majority of gamers, that is fine. A lot of gamers have never seen the difference between 144 fps, and 60 FPS. You can’t see more than 60 FPS, but you can most definitely feel it. That said, if you have the gear below, and you’re used to playing at 60 FPS, you will experience the game normally. However, we do recommend, if you have the money, exploring the option of upgrading your gear to try and hit the 144 FPS mark. This is going to allow you to upgrade your monitor to 144 HZ as well which will provide you with more of a competitive advantage.

Performance in competitive gaming is one of the most important variables out there, and that doesn’t change in Apex Legends. As a brand new game, Apex Legends isn’t nearly as optimized as it will be in a year. That said, if you’re looking for additional performance, you’re going to want to lower your settings. There’s a few different things you should consider when lowering your Apex Legends settings for performance. How do you want the game to look? Do you care? If the answer to the second question is No, then go ahead and lower, and disable all of your settings. Honestly, as soon as you get used to it, it isn’t really that bad. If you’re a content creator, though, you may get some gripe from your viewers so keep that in mind.

If your PC isn’t up to par, there’s no reason to hinder yourself by playing at increased settings. Below, we’ve compiled a list of the best settings for Apex Legends performance. Keep in mind, this is strictly performance-based. If it’s graphics you want, make sure you’re bumping your settings.

On top of making sure you have the latest video card drivers, there are additional settings that you can tune within your NVIDIA control panel. These are going to offer you a boost depending on the game you’re setting them for. In this case, it’ll be Apex Legends. While some people are going to see significant FPS improvement through these tunes, others may not see much of a change. Keep that in mind! Below is a list of the best Apex Legends Settings changes you can make in your NVIDIA control panel.

1. Right click on the desktop and open Nvidia Control Panel
2. Go to Manage 3D Settings
3. Select the Program Settings tab and find Apex Legends. If you can’t find the game, click Add and find the game executable. Running Apex Legends can also fix this if the title is missing.

That said, when considering a more powerful PC, there is something that is severely underrated, and it is a quality monitor.

If you’re unfamiliar, the refresh rate of the monitor is the rate at which it displays the picture, or video, to your monitor. So, if you’re at 144 Hz, you are receiving the picture at twice the rate that someone on a 60 Hz monitor is. This discrepancy is miniscule in the grand scheme of things, but every advantage is helpful in a competitive environment. Additionally, it is going to make your game incredibly smooth, which is the most important part. Smoothness is going to lead to a better shot. Better shot is going to lead to more wins; money well spent.

To ensure that you’re hitting 144 FPS to take full advantage of the 144 Hz Monitors, you’re going to want to lower your settings. If you’re not interested in giving up graphics for performance then you may want to consider a new video card, and CPU to take full advantage of your new monitor’s capabilities. Either way, going from 60 Hz to 144 Hz is like riding a dirt bike, and then hopping into a Lamborghini.

There are a lot of monitors out there, but there are a few that stand above the rest. One of these, is BenQ. We highly, highly recommend the BenQ Zowie XL2411P. This monitor outclasses everything except for the Asus VG248QE. You can’t go wrong with either of these monitors.

Both of these monitors offer 1920x1080p resolutions, with 144 Hz refresh rate and a 1 MS response time. This is significant when considering reduced input lag. The less input lag you have, the more smooth the game is going to feel. In a game such as Apex Legends, anything over 144 Hz is going to be an overkill. As mentioned, it isn’t nearly as optimized as it will be in the next months so you’re likely not going to get much higher than that. Additionally, it is capped at 300 fps per the game’s latest patch, and battle pass.

With the 1080p resolution, you should expect a nice, clean and crisp render of Apex Legends’ aesthetics. The XL2411P has a black eQualizer that is going to add visual clarity in dark scenes while not over-exposing the bright areas of the screen. This tends to be a huge help when considering gaming, especially if you’re someone that likes to play with shadows on.

On top of that, they also serve as fantastic regular monitors. I have two Asus VG248QEs setup on my desk with one being turned entirely vertical. This allows for better visibility on certain software given that they will be displayed through portrait instead of landscape. With the 24” display not only can you enjoy your favorite games, such as Apex Legends, but you’re going to be able to enjoy Netflix. The sharp picture of the XL2411P and the VG248QE never cease to impress me.

At the end of the day, these monitors are well worth the money, and you’re going to wonder why you’ve been living under a rock all these years. Additionally, it is going to allow you to find the best settings for Apex Legends and actually experience them.

You will quickly notice how many variations of settings streamers, and pro Apex Legends players have. Some are going to aim for pure performance for competitive sake note Dizzy. Dizzy plays with everything on low for every bit of performance he can get out of his PC. He could run everything at max with relative ease, but he chooses not to. Then on the other end of the spectrum, we have the content creators such as Shroud. Shroud, while he is ridiculously good at the game, doesn’t play at everything on all low. He is more concerned with providing great-looking content for his viewers. I’m sure you’ve experienced the stretched resolution streamers in Fortnite. It really just isn’t that nice to look at.

Setting uncapped FPS in Apex Legends is incredibly beneficial, and easy to do. You will absolutely want to do this no matter what kind of computer you have, because you never know when you’re actually capped. Uncapping your FPS is going to ensure that your monitors are running at their full potential, and your game is as smooth and seamless as possible. After all, you spent that money on the PC to be able to run games at higher FPS, right? Don’t let Apex Legends ruin your good purchases!
