What Are Heirloom Items In Apex Legends?
Heirloom items are a “hidden” type of cosmetic item in Apex Legends, even rarer than the supposedly rarest “legendary” quality items. Heirlooms can not be crafted, can not be unlocked via in-game achievements, and are the rarest items in the game. Heirlooms are designed as a set, meaning whenever you get an heirloom from an Apex Pack, you’ll be getting a full set of three heirloom items in that pack. As an added bonus, heirloom packs “don’t count” – meaning if you have a single Apex Pack and open it, getting heirloom items, you will still have a single pack to open afterwards. Heirloom packs are treated as a bonus pack more or less.
How Do You Unlock Heirlooms?
Heirloom items, as of now, have no special unlock condition. That is to say, they are not unlocked through any sort of in-game achievement that takes any high level of skill. Heirlooms are simply an ultra-rare drop from Apex Packs, and unlocking them is more of a matter of luck of the draw than anything else. Some people are lucky enough to get an heirloom in their first ever pack, for others, it takes much longer.
What Are The Odds Of Getting An Heirloom Item Set From An Apex Pack?
The odds of opening an heirloom item set from an Apex Pack are extremely low. The guaranteed rate is in 1 in 500 packs, meaning that heirlooms have a 0.2% chance to drop. Needless to say, it takes a whole lot of luck to unbox one of these babies. But that makes it all the more worth showing off if you get yourself one.
Are Heirloom Items Different From Other Cosmetics?
Yes, heirloom items can be completely different than any other cosmetic in the game. This is demonstrated by Wraith’s Kunai knife, which is a melee weapon skin. As of now, there are no other melee weapon skins in Apex Legends. In fact, there is no place to even equip such a skin by default. Only once you have unlocked the Kunai does a checkbox appear on Wraith’s page in your locker to allow you to equip or un-equip the Kunai skin. In short, heirlooms don’t play by the same rules as other cosmetics, which means Respawn can do anything they want with them in the future on a case by case basis. There are no limitations with these cosmetics!
What Heirloom Item Sets Are Currently In Apex Legends?
While we fully expect Respawn to continue to design and add additional heirlooms to Apex Legends, currently there is only one set. That set is Wraith’s Kunai heirloom set. No other legends have their own heirlooms as of now, but we expect they will be coming soon.
This list of heirloom items was last reviewed and is current as of April 07, 2020 and is current as of Apex Legends Version 3.0.4.N9
